Sagar Thapa is the current captain and defender of national team.His outstanding goal in SAFF Championship Tournament 2011 against Bangladesh gave him a new height and recognization in nepali football universe.The Sherpa Club awarded Thapa with Rs. 50,000 for his splendid performance against Bangladesh in SAFF Championship Tournament 2011 recently held in India.Sagar had netted the ball in a free kick in the last minute of the match against Bangladesh.

Currently he plays for Himalayan Sherpa club.

Anil Gurung (born 23 September 1988) is a Nepali international football player[1] who made headlines when he was selected for a trial for Chelsea reserve team and Woking F.C in England.[2] Sahara Club, Nepal and Sahara Football Club, UK jointly initiated the trial-selection process. Sahara Club (Pokhara), a local football Club in Pokhara, which has branches in the UK, had applied for Anil’s trial. In England, Gurung went through a four-month long trial, where he put his footballing skills to the test. Chelsea F.C. took care of all his footballing expenses during the trial period.

Ju Manu Rai (born 1 March 1983 in Sarlahi District) is a Nepalese footballer, who currently plays for Nepal Police Club and his national side Nepal.

Career

He was introduced to the public in Boys Union in an unsuccessful trial bid. He also played Association football for the Nepal Police Club, Machindra FC in the Division League. He was watched by Maldivian Club Vyansa.He played in the Kheladi Cup where he scored 5 goals. He later went on to play for All Youth Linkage of Maldives in the 2009 Wataniya Dhivehi League 3rd Round. .[1] He played half of the season scoring 11 goals.Then, he was back to play for Nepal Police Club.

International career

On April 5, 2006, he made his debut against Brunei at AFC Challenge Cup, which was held in Bangladesh. Rai has played for the Nepal national football team. In 2008, he was on form after scoring 5 goals in 4 matches in AFC Challenge Cup.He has also played for Nepal in the SAFF Championship 2008 held in Maldives and Srilanka.He scored two goals in a friendly match against Mohun Bagan which Nepal won 3-1.He also played in SAFF Championship 2009 which was held in Bangladesh.He scored the goal against Maldives national football team.His goal helped Nepal to draw 1-1.But Nepal Were out of the tournament.He scored four goals in three matches in British Gurkha Cup 2010. Nepal Police Club were out of the quarter-finals defeated by Three Star Club, who later on to be the champions. He has current goal tally of 9[2] making him the fourth highest scorer for Nepal.

Coming from a family which enjoyed soccer, nobody raised any eyebrows when he chose football over other sports as a child and the Madhyapur Football Club, which is near his house made it easier for him to spend hours horning his skills. His elder brother Bal Gopal Sahukhala is also a professional footballer.He started playing football as early as eight years old and competed in many a school-level tournament representing his school. In fact, he had started out as a defender before his coach at Madhyapur English School changed his position.
